Flash Flyer - SakuraMembership drive
#1
You get it, the site is extremely slow and on any given day, only 1-2 people are here (or even none).

Obviously I don't know the state of original AGM post-12/15/2018, though if I recall, we hadn't accepted any new members after Surraco and Uggla. If you guys got new blood to take my place, then great. Though I also know that the Custom Card section was/is probably still a clique in and out of itself with certain members, and yeah, only a small handful of people overall actually gave a shit about AGM's existence (i.e. one of my predecessors in the section couldn't care less about anything that would help deal with CC's inactivity).*

* You know who I'm referring to, though I also want to note that I didn't make this thread to criticize YCM / certain members half a year after retirement.

Going away from the YCM stuff, yeah, I'm pitching this idea to invite new people over; least people who've proven themselves to least know what they're doing design-wise.

Keep in mind that Neo AGM is technically open to anyone registration-wise, assuming you know the answers to questions, though it requires that Draco or I give you the AGM Member group to post in the specific areas.

(So in a way, Neo AGM is kinda structured like Sakura-era Custom Cards, minus some of the more controversial things like the design notes.**)

** Keep in mind that I didn't originally want to do it, but rather it was something a certain ex-co-mod brought up and planned on doing. It worked for a while, but then went down the drain (or well, certain members bitched over it). Feel free to ask me about this (and other things regarding CC affairs) if interested.

How would new members be theoretically "screened"?

Given the nature of this site (and obviously very large card pool for our format overall), it's impractical to do the existing Deck challenges or hold contests. We do not have all of the archetype threads here (barring all of mine and some oldies from you)

Though, in keeping the spirit of things, I suppose an idea would be to design a mini-archetype or something from the generic thread (see the game thread for an example). It should be noted that discretion should be exercised given this and that overall review of the archetype should be derived from general design principles.

Another option (and this is more on the lines of this being a normal CC club) is just have them present samples of their recent works to prove their competence.

With respect to competence, just look for the basics and if they at least know general card design/balance. You all know that design preferences can/will vary and what is "OK" is subjective at best.

Might have an entry form too, but we'll work with it later.

Are they going to be members on YCM too or just here?

Just here as the club and this site are probably two separate entities at this point, even if half of you are here. If Draco wishes to honor the applications here on YCM / Neo, then sure.

They'll also get a choice on the format design. To reiterate, we do have a MR4 area for AGM, albeit with a separate pool to avoid having to do a full revamp of stuff already existing. That in mind, said MR4 format does need to be fleshed out a bit, but suppose we'll get to that once members come in.

What about rest of the existing members?

I know I sent out invites to everyone barring Dante/whatever his name is right now, though I've been told he's inactive lately so... As for others, yeah...

Things will remain as-is for you all who did come over.

Any ideas for new members?

There's one on my end who was asking about another card making community besides YCM. You probably know him as LionHeartKIng or something like that. (Also has his own Wikia and does post somewhat on mine, so...there's that.)

Besides that, whoever wants to click the link.

So yeah, I guess use this thread to try developing the Neo AGM.

Hmm. Tell you what. For a first membership drive, take any AGM generic, and run a contest where people would have to design a small support lineup/mini-archetype for it. Have another available prize for the actual winner, but anyone who is up to snuff gets offered membership.

Issue is trying to find people in the first place, especially considering a lot of communities have moved on from forums to Discord. To remind everyone, we do have one as well, but I opted to use this as the main because of the character limits inherent with Discord (among the other issues with chat).

But we'll see how to go about this moving forward; otherwise, AGM will probably remain the same size it is now (which in itself isn't an issue) and we just work on getting the rest of the members over here somewhat. Sans Tinkerer, IDK how rest of the club feels about YCM in 2019.
