This one's veering into uncharted territory because only Speed Duels, so...a bit of explanation besides the obvious.

  • Skill Cards can be Continuous or Field Spells (least from confirmed stuff); otherwise, treat them as similar to Quick-Plays that don't last past the turn.
  • Skills cannot be negated unless otherwise specified by another one (i.e. Anti-Skill in VRAINS)
  • Type lining follows "(name) / Skill / (x, if applicable)
  • Effects can be whatever you want.
  • Generally once per Duel, but some do have lighter restrictions. A few also have some activation requirements on the back, so remember to include them if you need to do something.
As for other rules that apply for this game.

1. Usual "create a card" game rules

2. You don't have to make a Skill Card for a character in the anime/manga [DM or VRAINS] a la Speed Duel.

If you so want to make ones for GX, 5Ds, ZEXAL or ARC-V characters (eventually we'll probably get them too), go ahead.


You can also make ones with your names on them, [i.e. Sakura / Skill / Continuous Spell]

3. Only requirement is just posting what kind of Skill Card it will be. Rest of it is up to the next member, considering Skill Cards with respect to the actual game.



Hopefully this one doesn't flounder considering how unorthodox it is compared to everything else here, but we'll manage.


For now, just make a regular Skill Card.

Crackdown
Skill
If a monster you control inflicts damage to your opponent by its own effect, you can: Increase your opponent's LP by 1000, then double their LP, then Special Summon 2 monsters from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard with the same Attribute, Level, and Type as the monster that inflicted that damage. You can only activate this effect of "Crackdown" once per turn, and a maximum of three times per Duel.
This card is Set face-down at the start of the Duel. The first time you would utilize this Skill per Duel, you must say "Skill Activate: Crackdown", then turn this card over.

Now, what makes Crackdown interesting is that it encourages the use of monsters with burn effects as combo starters, and turns an otherwise useless burn effect into large potential advantage. Notably, Abaki lets you drop any 2 Level 4 FIRE Fiends immediately from Deck if it's destroyed in any way, Battlewasps can actually combo with Pin in a meaningful way, and (in the AGM) you can actually use Toon Cannon Soldier in a way that isn't degenerate.

Skill Activation

Flip this card over when you activate this Skill.

Effect

Pay 1500 LP to activate this Skill.

During your turn, if a monster you control destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the GY: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK, then you gain the same amount of LP. If you do this, flip this card over. You can only use this Skill once per turn.

Idea's supposed to be Shinato's burn effect in the anime iirc; obviously with a LP cost because Noah did have a Deck that would restore LP (and this Skill does restore more than you pay for).



I guess we go for designing a Skill card for a non-DM or VRAINS character next.

Once per Duel, if there are no cards in your Pendulum Zones, and your LP are 3000 or more lower than your opponent's, you can place 1 each of a Scale 3 or lower and Scale 5 or higher Pendulum card from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard into your Pendulum Zones.

Make a Skill that, like Cyber Style, Summons a monster from the aether- that is, a monster that isn't even in your Deck.

Twice per Duel, if at least 2 of the following ("Gagaga" monster, "Gogogo" monster, "Dododo" monster, "Zubaba" monster) are in the GY and your LP decrease by 1500, you can play 1 "Utopic Onomatopeia" from outside your Deck. "Utopic Onomatopeia" played with this Skill cannot be Tributed or used as a material except when for Xyz Summoning.


Make a skill for "Vagabond". Preferably a skill that supports an archetype NOT used by a main cast member.

Considering the Vagabond can use anything, let's just give him a Skill that works for most cases.

Flip this card over when you activate this Skill.

Effect

If you Summon a monster or activate a monster effect this turn, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to that Summon or activation. During the End Phase, flip this card over. You can only use this Skill once per Duel.

Frozen Phantasm

During each Draw Phase, the turn player discards 1 card. Once per turn, as a Quick Effect during a turn in which the turn player discarded a "Shivergami" monster, they can draw 1 card.

Create a Skill for a character with 6 or fewer completed Duels in the anime, except an arc villain.

It's a good thing Luna/Ruka falls under this category.

Spirit World
Luna / Skill / Field Spell

Skill activation

At the start of the Duel, place this card in your Field Spell Zone and flip it over.

Effect

When this card is activated: Change all Defense Position monsters on the field to Attack Position. If a monster your opponent controls attacks, destroy it after damage calculation. You can activate 1 of the following effects.
● Destroy 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls, and if you do, gain 1000 LP, then you can add 1 Field Spell from your Deck to your hand.
● You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster.
You can only use this effect of "Spirit World" per turn.

Oh hi Ancient Forest / Fairy Dragon. Now let's hope this doesn't get banned like AFD, hmm?

Heart of the Dragon

Flip this card over when you activate this Skill.

Effect

If you have 2000 or less LP, activate this Skill. Special Summon 1 "Life Stream Dragon" from your Extra Deck. (This is treated as a Synchro Summon.) It cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's effects, also if it battles, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step. Cards or effects cannot be activated in response to this Skill's activation. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Guardian of Honor

This card starts play face-down, and is flipped face-up when you would first use its effect in a Duel. During your Main Phase 1, you can reveal 1 "Guardian" monster in your hand that names an Equip Spell in its card text: Special Summon 1 "Backup Token" (EARTH/Level 1/Warrior/ATK 1000/DEF 0), and equip it with that named Equip Spell from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. You can only activate this effect of "Guardian of Honor" once per turn.

Make a Skill specifically for a "bad" IRL Deck that might be okay-ish in Speed Duels/Duel Links.

Skill activation

At the start of the Duel, place this card in your center Spell & Trap Zone and flip it over.

Effect

Monsters your opponent controls and in their hand or GY are treated as being all Attributes except DIVINE-Attribute. If a "Charmer" or "Familiar-Possessed" monster or a Level 4 Spellcaster monster with 800 ATK and 1500 DEF in your possession activates its effect, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to the activation.

At the start of the Duel, reveal this card and place it where both players can read it, but off the field. All Special Summoned monsters are treated as Link monsters for the effects of "Rokket" monsters you control. A player that controls a "Rokket" monster(s) during the End Phase can Link Summon 1 Dragon Link monster once during that End Phase. This effect of this Skill can only apply once per turn.

Create a Skill for an archetype that never appeared in the anime.

(Probably was a misunderstanding, so the clarification might've been helpful at the start.)

To be fair to both of you, I'll just redo Draco's and then do LHK's one.

Flip this card over when you activate this Skill.

Effect

Activate this Skill during your Main Phase. Special Summon up to 2 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monsters with different names from your hand, Deck and/or GY. This turn, those monsters can attack your opponent directly, but other monsters you control cannot attack. At the end of your turn, flip this card over. This Skill can only be used once per turn.

(MPB did appear in the Team ZEXAL manga, but NOT in the anime, so it's fine. This being a Skill with my name on it references it being my [now back] RL deck.)

Name of the Skill user (Matt) is placeholder, and just ... there.

If a Flip monster's effect activates, you can target 1 Flip monster in your Graveyard with the same Attribute, ATK, and DEF as that monster: Activate the target's effect, instead. You can only apply this effect once per turn: If you activate the effect of a "Quiz" or "Question" card, your opponent can only activate cards or effects in that Chain for the first 10 seconds after that effect is declared.

Create a Skill based on a Deck that was once competitive, named after a person who actually played it.

Anyway, Create a Skill based off a user who runs a Plant-Type deck (think of it, like Spectre, Akiza and Yuri).

Once during your Draw Phase, after your Normal Draw, you can discard 1 card: Add 1 "Mayakashi" monster from your Deck to your hand. The first time a monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck each turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Mayakashi" monster from your Graveyard, then you can destroy 1 card you control. During a turn in which you applied either effect of this Skill, you cannot Summon monsters, except Zombie monsters.

Create a Skill that adds some threat to a high-Level Main Deck megaboss that does not already have specific support (so, no God Cards or Sacred Beasts, but they're the kind of thing you should be aiming for). AGM (the Plasmids and Giganteform are probably the easiest designs) or Konami cards apply.
