Flash Flyer - SakuraWelcome to the Neo AGM
#1
Aloha mai kākou! Neo AGM e komo mai!

Welcome to the Neo AGM site. You all should know who I am, so letʻs skip the introductions and explain how things work here.

General flow of things?

Barring some obvious stuff, this site will function similarly to how AGM has done so for the past 3-4 years. Weʻll make cards for our own format.

As to why I have chosen to make Neo AGM on a FORUM instead of Discord (which we do have in case shit happens), reasons are:

1. Character limit on Discord, which is counterproductive to how AGM functions (especially with sets and the generics thread). Of course, this has limits too as noted in the next post.

2. Inherent problems with chat and Discord in general.

(Discord requires you to verify if not logging in from a normal area; this place doesn't care. Also while I don't expect it to be as crazy as other servers, yeah, it gets hard to find stuff after a while. Also I can help you with password resets here if something happens; Discord, I cannot.)

Features?

As you can tell by now, this site is hosted on MyBB, which is a little different than IP.Boards. You will generally be able to copy/paste set threads verbatim without too many issues.

With your member permissions, you can:
  • Update your profile as normal. Please note that unlike IP.Boards, your username is also your login so please donÊ»t choose a name that youÊ»ll have to copy/paste everytime you log in. (Though, there is an Alias field that you have to fill in while registering, but that accomplishes the same task it does on YCM; in the event you get a dramatic name change, what are we still calling you)
  • Gain points for posting (though at the moment, we donÊ»t really have any use for them barring maybe prizes)

Something that I technically implemented in CC during my tenure, but not physically are topic tags. Instead of you having to manually add these, you simply select from a drop-down menu.

Arranging by section-specific ones:

AGM / General Design:
  • MR3 - ARC-V format
  • MR4 - VRAINS format with Links and other changes
TCG Discussion:
  • Card Discussion - Talk about leaks, real cards, etc.
  • Theory - What-if discussions for the real game (i.e. If Konami implemented some rule for the game, its effects in the long term)
  • Banlist - Self-explanatory; banlist threads when they come up. Wishlists for bans should be marked as such too.
Your Deck:
  • TCG - Decks uses the TCG lists with no customs (though I expect most of us will be using this often)
  • OCG - Decks uses the OCG lists with no customs
  • Custom - Deck has some custom cards. It will be assumed under TCG format.
As far as Deck challenges go, just mark them as Custom and add [Deck Challenge] in the title. But weʻll work that out at a later date, okay?

===
Other things of note:
- Internal gallery for you to upload card pics to if needed, as opposed to using Imgur, etc. (However, Iʻd probably advise you use Imgur for most part)
- Spoiler tags (though they may function slightly differently than they would on IP.Boards, etc)
- Different themes (albeit only two right now; more will be added later)

===

Why do we have a Master Rule 4 area?

(This is General Design)

While I am perfectly aware that Link format still hasnʻt sat well with some of you even now, you all know by now that it exists, Links are here to stay along with the new field set up and thereʻs only so much that can be done in Master Rule 3.

Ideally, we can try running a dual format (MR3 is still the main one; MR4 moreso as a trial run to see how you can design in the current state). Of course, as far as weʻre concerned, certain cards that are "cancerous" in the current meta will be excluded.

The goal is being up-to-date with things and making sure you can design "on time" with the game. You donʻt have to like Link format, but be mindful that itʻs here and donʻt shrug it off.

Thatʻs about it for now.

Do feel free to ask questions about anything that was not mentioned above.

have fun!

Going off what I said about Discord's character limit being very counterproductive to how we function, yeah, the generics thread alone has about 1.05 million characters.

(Put into perspective, in Century Gothic 10 point font, single spaced, that's 357 pages worth of stuff. So...good job over the years, I suppose)

What does this mean?

At present, the maximum character limit per post is 65,535 characters (however, even if you check the count, this site seems to render more, even though I told it not to count BBCode and the like). As a consequence, I had to split the generic thread into multiple posts (moreso than on YCM).

Yeah, I tried changing it, but no access to certain areas means that we're stuck with the default limit. In most cases, this is quite a bit, though for the generics threads (and potentially legacy supports), this isn't sufficient. If you have really big threads, reserve some posts to deal with the overflow.

It may also help that you post things in source mode if not directly copy/pasting from YCM. Stuff from Word Docs / Google tend to render the other stuff...

I am aware that the character limit sucks, but we'll just have to live with it. Aside from the above threads and stuff, you should generally be fine.

As far as AGM members who I haven't contacted due to lack of knowledge of their Discords:
- Tinkerer
- Dante (or whatever he calls himself at the present time)

Rest of AGM that I recall pre-December 15th, 2018 should've gotten a notification on Discord (and mostly because mutual servers or I have DM histories with you).
- Draco
- Nyx
- Kyumi
- Dova
- Uggla
- ZetaRESP / Surraco
- Sleepy
